3 Benefits of going on a dealer service

car-service

It’s a never-ending debate that has been going on for years: whether you should take your car to a dealer service or to your local mechanic? Both choices have their respectful arguments, but overall most people would still prefer official dealer service instead of a garage mechanics. The reason is that at first glance, big companies which have a successful portfolio and loyal customers are more likely to complete a task and conduct a successful repair. However, local mechanics have some advantages of their own and in some cases can deal with a problem better than any dealer technician. Maybe one advantage these self-educated mechanics in acquiring clients have, is that you can obtain a more personal relationship with them and feel that they are more honest than large and greedy corporations. In fact, a survey conducted on Ford service showed interesting results – majority of people said they do not trust their service staff because they act more as salesmen than mechanics.

However, most certified auto shops have a solid internship and employment program that results with the best candidates being hired. A perfect example is Toyota service employment program that has had and continues to have major role in increasing profits just by having excellent customer relationship strategy. This is just one of those things that local mechanics lack which does make a difference. Therefore, it is more likely that people will choose dealers that have permits and expertise to service certain brands. Mechanics around the corner may have required expertise and knowledge on all car brands, but they do not have all the information regarding updates and changes a manufacturer would entrust certified dealer with.

All car manufacturers have warranty policies which don’t allow just any mechanics to service car engines. Certain licenses are required for this kind of service and any car service for that matter. Therefore, if uncertified mechanic does conduct any type of service on a car, an owner will most likely loose all warranty benefits. To be more precise, a warranty is a manufacturer’s guarantee that a regular service, a repair and part replacement will be conducted either free of charge or at a discounted price. Usually all warranties are limited, meaning they are valid for a certain period of time. Hence, if a car under warranty needs a repair, certified dealer will charge the service at a discounted price unlike a local mechanic shop. This has big influence on car owners when it comes to deciding where to take a car for maintenance. Majority are not willing to risk loosing warranty benefits and thus entrust certified dealers with their cars.
